The Transition Toolkit
The purpose of the Transition Toolkit is to give a wider range of further education providers the necessary information, professional development and practical advice to enable them to recruit and retain learners in transition with a wide-range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities. It will enable providers to be better prepared for receiving learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and, thereby, expand the opportunities for these young people and improve retention. In so doing it will ultimately improve the changes of learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to maximise their potential.
The Transition Toolkit provides information, advice and guidance to those who support learners with special educational needs. Comprising a portfolio and two CD Roms, the toolkit provides comprehensive guidance to teachers, tutors, support staff, employers and all key stakeholders. Its focus is how to understand and provide support with the processes of transition from school through college and into employability for learners with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
